Rain in forecast for tomorrow. Will Track Club be cancelled??
In the event of a rainy forecast, the system I use to decide and get the info out to Track families:
1. I will make the decision to cancel or not, no later than 12:00 pm on that Friday.
2. If we do cancel:
A. I will send out a blog update saying that it is cancelled.
If there is a chance of rain, you can check the blog for the update I will send it out before I start teaching my afternoon classes at 12:15.
B. I make an announcement at school so the Track kids are aware that it has been cancelled.
C. I ask the classroom teachers to send the Track kids home at dismissal.
Let me know if you have any questions. Kristen.palmer@austinisd.org or 512-841-3962.
**NOTE: Fridays are hectic days for me. Many times I do not get a chance to check email after 8:00 am. If you have questions on Fridays, I would not recommend emailing, but calling.
The front office staff will be in the know on decisions made. Thanks! Kristen

PE Donors Choose Project
I have created a donor's choose project in order to get some of the remaining items on the PE wish list for this school year. These items will help up to reduce the amount of equipment we borrow from other schools, reduce lines in our class, and replace broken equipment. Please check out my project at the url below! Every donation (up to $100) will be matched for the next 7 days if you use the code SPARK.

Track Club is ON!!
Several people have asked if we will be having Track Club the next 2 Fridays.
My thoughts are:
*we will have Track Club pretty much every Friday afternoon, unless weather prevents us.
*if you would prefer not to send you child on a given day, be sure to let the classroom teacher know.
*we are a "come when you can" kind of club, it is not necessary to attend EVERY Friday.
With that said, we will be out on the track this Friday, after our Fun Field Day event as well as next Friday on Halloween day.
NOTE: Although the weather is starting to cool down, between 2:40 - 3:30 when you are running the track, it gets hot! Please remind your child to pack an extra water bottle on Track Club days.
Water fountains outside are not turned on and access to the building is limited. It is best if the students bring their water bottle filled when the come out to the track.

NOTE:Sign up for After School Track Club will close tonight at 10:00 pm.
Be sure to register your child by then if s/he has expressed an interest.
The next opportunity for registering will be in November.
**At this time we have over 110 students signed up!! Parents that are picking up their kids: if you are available to come at 3:15 and help with the check out process, it would be appreciated. We will need to teach the kids the system of checking out, getting back packs, and where to wait. The more adults we have on deck the better we can keep track of the 110 kids.**

After School Track Club Registration is starting!!
Do you like to walk, jog, or run around the track?
Join the After School Track Club!
Join the After School Track Club!
Track Club is open to all OHE Eagles, family members, and staff members.
We meet every Friday after school until 3:30, beginning October 3.
There is no bus transportation available at 3:30 so you will need to make arrangements to have your child picked up promptly at 3:30. If your child goes to C-Club or Extend-A-Care, I will make sure s/he will go there directly and you can pick them up as you usually do.
Please look over the information and discuss it with your child. If s/he is interested, fill out the member information form. If you have any questions or need more info, please do not hesitate to contact me, kristen.palmer@austinisd.org or (512) 841-3962.
Safety Speakers
Welcome to the Physical Education blog! We are very excited to have another means of updating you with what is going on in our program. We will be posting important reminders and newsletters on here in the future.
We are fortunate to have guest speakers from the city of Austin in our classes over the next couple of days. They are providing all of our Oak Hill Students with safety lessons. Topics include how to safely cross the street, bicycle safety, and other traffic laws.
Reminders:
Cross the street only at a crosswalk, stop light, or street corner.
Students under 12 should ride their bikes on the sidewalk whenever possible, and all individuals under 18 must wear a helmet in Travis county. The law also says all bicycle riders must have a seat. Remind your students not to ride on pegs or share seats.
Stay tuned for more information about our program, important documents, and information regarding field day.
Big thanks to Geeta for helping us get this off of the ground.
Thanks again,
Your Physical Education teachers
